SARAH CAIN - RIVER OF IF'S
River of if's is a solo exhibition by Oakland-based artist Sarah Cain. Wholly site-specific, the show features sculpture, painting, and drawings that explore the spatial language inherent in any constructed environment and its inevitable and organic collapse. Working with the tension between what is visually extant and its imagined double the work explores the tension between interior and exterior, and stasis and flow. Redefining conventional parameters, paintings meet the floor and spread while sculpture acts as a gateway into a more ethereal world.
Sarah Cain was born 1979 in Albany, NY she presently lives and works in the Bay Area. Cain received her bachelor′s degree in interdisciplinary fine art from the San Francisco Art Institute, in 2001. Current exhibitions include: Queens Nails Annex; The Berkeley Art Center; and Open Space, Victoria, BC. Her work has also been exhibited at the San Francisco Art Commission Gallery; Lucky Tackle, Oakland; Kunst Plus, Düsseldorf; The Backroom Gallery at Adobe Books; The Lab, The Luggage Store all in San Francisco, California.
